  1. Day1 Arrival at Sagres

    Airport Faro transfer (optional) to Sagres. This  beautiful   village  is located in the extreme southwest of Europe and integrated into the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vincentina . This traditional village  is dotted with magnificent and full of historical evidence . A visit to the lighthouse and views of the Atlantic is highly recommended. The Fortress of Sagres, Located at Ponta de Sagres , offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy   the natural heritage of the coast .Tradicional food, fisch and sea food, are recommended.

  2. Day2 Cape St. Vicente to Lagos – 49 km

    The tour moves north in direction Lagos through Vila do Bispo . The mythic atmosphere of Sagres and Saint Vincent’s Cape,  the preserved beauty with the  high cliffs  rise nearly vertically from the Atlantic to a height of 75 meters with an exuberant marine life a dramatic coast  with it´s in the background, here is Vila do Bispo!  This council is one of the few places in the Algarve where the wild nature, together with a rich historical-cultural patrimony, remains untouched.

  3. Day3 Lagos to Portimão - 31 km

    Starting the day visiting the splendid city of Lagos, which was remarkable for the Portuguese Discoveries, follow the path to the magnificent city of Portimão, through admirable Ria de Alvor.

  4. Day4 Portimão to Albufeira - 46 km

    The quiet roads and tracks will guide you through small villages and traditional cafes where you can taste delicacies of the region.

  5. Day5 Albufeira to Faro – 47 km

    Following along the coast through the interesting Vilamoura and Quarteira. Then find the beauty of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa , that enables a really healthy contact with nature and arrive at Faro city the capital of the Algarve. With many secrets to discover.

  6. Day6 Faro to Tavira – 41 km

    Leaves Faro towards fishing town of Olhão,  following along the Ria Formosa Natural Park which has 60km, sometimes passing by, meet interesting small villages with  typical architecture  and reach   Sta. Luzia. Oovernight on this  picturesque and unique place.  5 km away, Tavira is a wonderful mix of architecture, saltpans, enchanted beaches, mountain ranges, windmills and (of course) churches, crossed by the river Gilhão. The roman bridge makes the connection between both margins of the river, and both sides of Tavira.

  7. Day7 Tavira to Vila Real St. António – 34 km

    From Tavira towards   Cabanas , passes through the  historically Forte de S. João da Barra  and  emblematic Cancela Velha where you can see magnificent scenery . Follow towards Monte Gordo and quickly come to Vila Real de Santo António. Here is the border between Portugal and Spain. Interesting place with a lot of tradition, this town was completely rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1755.The Overnight is at Sta. Luzia (Tavira) optional return by bike on the same way or by train to Tavira ( the  regional train is free for bikes)

  8. Day8 End of the trip

This great route runs along the Algarve coast line, allowing you to visit many of the coastal  towns and cities in the Algarve and also trace various paths of nature.
It features mostly flat terrain with an average of one / two medium ascents per day. With an average of 40 km per day, easily crossed. Routes are supported by detailed roadbook that is provided.

Blessed with over 300 days of sunshine, the Algarve offers excellent temperatures to enjoy a cycling route at any time of year. Average temperatures vary between 15 degrees in January until the 30 degrees in August and 20 degrees in November.
Getting to Faro:
Plane – You can book your airfare directly to Faro Airport or Lisbon Airport (with any connection to Faro by Bus or Train).
