  1. Day 1 Hinterzarten / Lake Titisee

Travellers are responsible for their transportation to Hinterzarten or Lake Titisee. The health resorts await you. If the weather allows you may like to take a stroll along the ”Flanier Mile” or take a paddleboat across the clear glacier lake. Spend the night in Hinterzarten / Lake Titisee.

  2. Day 2 Hinerzarten / LakeTitisee – Stühlingen. Distance: approx. 58 km

Start at Lake Titisee and follow the Bähnle Bicycle Trail, a former railway line, through the forest. We recommend visiting the wildly romantic gorge (Wutachschlucht). If you would like to shorten the route, just cycle directly from Bonndorf to Stühlingen (approx. 50 km / 31 mi). Pass the railway tracks for the steam locomotive, the Sauschwänzlebahn (”sow’s little tail railway”), on your way to Stühlingen. The Roman Hohenlupfen Castle which is also the city’s emblem, the abbey church, and the agricultural machine museum are worth visiting. Spend the night in Stühlingen.

  3. Day 3 Stühlingen - Bad Säckingen. Distance: approx. 54 km

Go through Ofteringen with its Marienburg Abbey and Wutöschingen with its megalithic tombs. There are all kinds of things along the way that comprise the regional charm such as trout farms, orchards, and a small spirits distillery with shop. From Waldshut-Tiengen follow the Rhine through Laufenburg to Bad Säckingen. Crown your day with a ”nightwatchman-tour” through the historic city and spend the night. Please ask in advance about any English-speaking tours.

  4. Day 4 Säckingen - Basel. Distance: approx. 43 km

Cycle to the moated castle in Beuggen and to the Roman excavation sight in Kaiseraugst. Basle isn’t too far from there. Basle has much to offer including a rich history in culture and world-known museums. Spend the night in Basel.

  5. Day 5 Basel – Staufen & Surroundings. Distance: approx. 52-63 km

Cycle across the world’s longest pedestrian/cycling bridge in the ”3-country-corner” and continue to the resort town of Bad Bellingen where you can pamper your tired legs at a thermal spa. In Neuenburg, leave the Rhine and cycle through the Markgräflerland Region where viticulture has a long history. Spend the night in Staufen, Pfaffenweiler, or Heitersheim.

  6. Day 6 Staufen – Hinterzarten / Lake Titisee. Distance: approx. 46-57 km

The view from Ebringen onto the Rhine Valley is beautiful. Cycle past timber-framed houses, vintner’s cooperatives, and distilleries in the Schnecken Valley to Freiburg. Stroll through the historic Old Town and visit sights such as the Münster or the town hall or enjoy regional cuisine at a local restaurant. Continue along the Dreisam River to Kirchzarten. We recommend you take a train from Kirchzarten to Hinterzarten (fare not included in tour price). Although there are many glorious outlooks along the way, the 25 km / 16 mi route has many inclines and is best cycled by experienced sportive cyclists. Spend the night in Hinterzarten / Lake Titisee.

  7. Day 7 Departure from Hinterzarten / Lake Titisee

Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation. Please let us know at time of booking if you would like to extend your stay in Hinterzarten / Lake Titisee.

By train – To Freiburg. From there take the train, the Höllentalbahn, to Hinterzarten or Lake Titisee (departure every half hour).

By car – Most hotel parking is free. Please call the hotel ahead of time to reserve a parking place.
